Kakuli Bush Camp, part of Norman Carr Safaris camp circuit in South Luangwa National Park, is located in one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Zambia. Highlights here are walking safari and night game drives. Bring a headlamp. Perfect when matched with another bush camp or two to cerate a fun walking circuit. At night the solar lights in your tent can be a bit to dim to make notes in your journal.
Kakuli Bush Camp is a seasonal bush camp on the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa rivers. Whether Kakuli is used as a stopover in the middle of a walking trail or as a base for a many wildlife safari adventures, the game viewing and night game drives in this area are some of the best in Zambia.
There are four spacious, traditional safari tents under shady thatched roofs, each with an en-suite, open-air bathroom. A lovely thatched chitenje (bar and dining area) acts as the center of camp where guests can gather. It is set upon a wooden deck overlooking the grazing lawn that leads down to the two rivers and is a perfect spot in which to relax and watch the wildlife that wander by to drink from the rivers.
Safari activities from Kakuli will usually be a mixture of game drives and walking safaris, both led by expert guides. Guests are able to decide each day if they want to venture out on foot or with the vehicle. This stretch of the Luangwa is fantastic for wildlife. It is bustling with predators and the best time to see them in action is during those first few hours of darkness. Night drive safaris from Kakuli have been known to provide guests with some of the most impressive glimpses into the raw and wild nature of these creatures in Zambia.
