Chamilandu is a tiny and fabulous little camp. The elevated rooms, while not for people who are uncomfortable with stairs, are imaginative and an ideal setting to wake up in each morning.
As part of the Bushcamp series, this is a fun stop for walking enthusiasts. It is a healthy drive from Mfuwe so best booked for 3 nights or as part of a combination of camps in this vicinity. It is a good game area but not the best in Luangwa terms.
Chamilandu Camp offers comfort, class and beauty in one of the Luangwa Valleys prime remote river locations. A stunning setting with the rippling waters of the Luangwa River, the gentle rise of the Chindeni Hills and a vast African sky.
Chamilandu's three exquisite stilted chalets perch right on the edge of the Luangwa River. Each has its own raised veranda with comfortable chairs to loll on during the heat of the day, and an open-fronted en-suite bathroom with the same magnificent views over the tranquil waters. Two of the tree-houses have twin beds (queen-sized beds) and one has a double (king-sized bed). The bathrooms have double basins, a flush toilet and an large open shower with hot water.
Chamilandu walking safaris are a constant mix of awe and information, excitement and inspiration. Catering for all safari tastes, the camp offers both morning and evening walks and a combination of day and night game drives. After a dawn walk, enjoy a hearty brunch, then relax before a late afternoon game drive. Specializing in guided walking safaris, The Bushcamp Company prides itself on top class guides and offers guests the chance to walk as Livingstone once did, among pristine untouched Africa. The camp has a hide with a vantage point over a productive lagoon. There is a remarkably diverse array of wildlife in the area, ensuring a memorable experience for guests.
