Mango Opinion
Nicknamed Bili, this little camp has a sweet and wild air about it. It is part of a nice chain of camps that are linked by walking trails with Chindeni and Chamilandu. It is a healthy drive from Mfuwe so best booked for 3 nights or as part of a combination of camps in this vicinity. It is a good game area.
Bilimungwe bush camp is nestled in riverine forest along the picturesque banks of the Luangwa River. The heart of camp is the rustic lounge area set beneath a huge mahogany tree and looking out over a shady waterhole - an establishment favored by local warthogs, elephant and other thirsty game.
The camp consists of four raised thatched chalets that have been effortlessly designed to blend with the surrounding landscape, with en-suite shower, toilet and double vanities. Each chalet has two queen size beds with large mosquito nets and an individual rechargeable lighting system. The tangle of mature mahogany trees that surround camp are echoed in the rich, wood interiors and the beautiful wooden furniture, handmade by local artisans. Bright African textiles bring splashes of colour to the elegant rooms.
The rustic dining area and fully stocked bar offer panoramic views of Bilimangwes water hole and the abundant resident game that it attracts. The thatched dining canopy provides a cool and comfortable environment in which to enjoy this idyllic setting. The surrounding forest of evergreen shade trees forms a majestic backdrop for those seeking the unique African experience. Activities include walking safaris, day and night vehicle based safaris and sundowners on the river's edge. Traditionally walking has been considered the camps main activity, which is particularly good around camp.
