Kwetsani has a wonderful atmosphere and the elevated walkways, intimate tree house design and totally relaxed atmosphere make it a favorite camp for many. It enjoys quality land and water based activities much of the year but when the floods are high, game drives can be limited.
Located in the center of the private Jao Concession in the Okavango Delta , Botswana, Kwetsani Camp sits on an elongated island covered with palm, mangosteen and fig trees. The surrounding floodplains are home to a number of “Delta specials” – species that are found in few other places on Earth. Some of these may even be seen from the privacy of one of our five luxurious “treehouse” chalets, beautifully furnished en-suite rooms each comprising a bedroom and lounge, and made of canvas, wood and glass.
Kwetsani’s location gives access to both water and dry land areas, allowing guests to see all aspects of the Delta’s makeup. Guided game drives explore the mosaic of Delta habitats, and let you come closer to some of the resident wildlife. A whole new safari experience awaits after dark. Go in search of the fascinating creatures of the night. Boating and trastional mokoros are other fun ways to view wildlife along the waterways, and can yield fabulous sightings of hippo and crocodile and perhaps even sitatunga.
The raised dining room, lounge and bar area all offer sweeping vistas of the surrounding floodplains and catch the gentle breeze blowing through the reeds. A plunge pool with loungers is just right for those sunny afternoon siestas.
