Mango Opinion
How can Mombo be worth all the hype and exorbitant costs? Each time we return, the answer is simple: Mombo is worth every penny.
The surrounding eco-system is literally crowded with game. Mombo rarely fails to enchant its guests with its awe inspiring place at the heart of the Okavango Delta. Mombo is located inside the Moremi Game Reserve and therefore cannot offer night drives or walking safaris.
The staff strives to keep the down-to-earth nature of a bush lodge despite Mombo’s luxury and reputation. Finding space can be a challenge. If Mombo is a MUST stay so plan early.
Little Mombo is a celebration of our conservation purpose and, together with sister camp Mombo, is the spiritual home of the Botswana Rhino Reintroduction Project. It combines luxury and service excellence with the amazing natural splendor that is the Mombo wildlife area.
With just four tents tucked away on the other side of the same island, Little Mombo is connected via a raised walkway to Mombo Camp. Built under a shady canopy of jackalberry and sausage trees, overlooking a floodplain regularly visited by herds of herbivores (and their predators), the camp has its own facilities, including a dining area, boma, kitchen, lounge and pool.
Renowned as “the Place of Plenty,” the enormous number and variety of wildlife around Little Mombo makes it a hugely sought-after wildlife-viewing destination. Game drives reveal the rich wildlife of the area from predators to prey. The Mombo concession is a bountiful hunting ground for leopard and large prides of lion. Spend time at wildlife hide, just 20 minutes from the camp, for exceptional bird and animal viewing. For those looking to exercise, there is a gym where you can work up a sweat whilst enjoying a view filled, more often than not, with wildlife.
