Kwara offers a quality combination of both land and water activities for most of the year. As with all of the Kwando properties, they are aggressive and exciting in their search for surrounding game on safari activities. The camp was updated in September 2019 giving the camp a more updated feel while retaining its rustic safari charm. The tents are in close proximity and the common area can be a bit cramped when the property is full. However, it has wonderful guides, down to earth service and some of the best and most abundant wildlife in Botswana.
Kwara is located in the remote northern part of the stunning Okavango Delta within the private Kwara concession. The camp fronts onto a huge floodplain, adjacent to the permanent water of the Delta and is backed by extensive bush. Kwara encompasses a wide diversity of habitats, ranging from the clear Delta waters with reed-lined lagoons and channels, to open grasslands, mopane woodlands and palm-fringed islands.
The nine canvas tents overlook the seasonal lagoon. Each very spacious tent has a lounge area, an ensuite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers and a gorgeous bath. Resident hippo will generally serenade you year round from the water on the floodplain in front of the camp. The Camp also has two small pool areas at each end of the camp providing guests with more private lounge areas.
Along with incredible and diverse wildlife viewing, Kwara has a variety of activities including seasonal fishing (both spinner and fly) and walks with a guide on one of the many palm-fringed islands. Kwara also offers water activities including powerboat and dugout canoe trips. Night game drives are also available and open up a nocturnal world. Spotlights will find hippo out of the water grazing, herds of impala down for the night, serval and genit cats, hunting lions, hyena and leopard. The beauty and charm of Kwara will captivate you.
