The Okavango Delta, famous for legendary wildlife viewing in a fascinating flood plain setting, is located in northern Botswana. As the waters of the Kavango River flow into the Kalahari Desert, they spread out into the world's largest inland maze of grasses and waterways, attracting thousands of animals annually who are drawn to the promise of water in a normally bone-dry environment. The remarkably diverse array of wildlife has been stringently protected by the Botswanan government to help preserve the integrity of this natural wonder by strictly limiting the number of guests that can visit. The result is that the is the highest quality and most expensive safari destination in Africa.
Activities center around safari drives, boating safari and walks. The best time to visit is from May through October. But even in off peak times when the weather tends to be hotter and wetter, the wildlife viewing remains at an extremely high level. Off season also can mean some good deals are there to be had.
We have been to pretty much every safari camp in the greater Okavango Delta, most several times over a variety of seasons, so we are well suited to plan the best combinations of camps given the time of year, budget and what you are envisioning ensuring you have the most spectacular safari possible.
