Mashatu Game Reserve has excellent wildlife opportunities and is a great safari value for Botswana. Is is easily paired with a South African itinerary due to its southern border location.
Mashatu Lodge, set on the private 72,000 acre Mashatu reserve is host to some of the finest predator and elephant viewing on the continent. The reserve lies in the eastern extremity of Botswana where the great Limpopo and Shashe Rivers converge. This exceptionally diverse landscape includes wide open plains, grassland, riverine forests, rocky hills, marshland and majestic sandstone ridges. Predators and elephant sightings are complimented by some lesser well-known species such as the aardwolf, bat-eared fox, African wildcat, honey badge, spotted hyena, black backed jackal and over 350 bird species.
Fourteen luxury suites lie along the camps perimeter, and are designed to allow absolute privacy and a connection with the bush and its inhabitants. Watch elephants splashing at the waterhole; listen to the lyrical melody of the kingfisher in a branch overhead; smell the grassy scent of the veldt; touch the bark of an ancient tree and taste a breath of pure, wild air. Each of the air-conditioned suites has comfortable beds and is tastefully decorated with impressive black and white prints of Africa's most beautiful animals. The ample en-suite bathroom with bath and shower facilities and a separate toilet complete the well appointed suites.
