Kilindi is one of finer resort options on Zanzibar. The clean, modern design is sexy. Two plunge pools per suite is outrageous and opulent. This is a private villa resort so its quiet - maybe too quiet for social couples. Not in a ideal locale for scuba diving enthusiasts.
Kilindi is one of the top hideaways in Zanzibar. The resort, fringed by casuarina trees and set on a magnificent white sand beach extending 500 metres with brilliant turquoise waters lapped gently at its edges. It offers luxurious accommodations in 15 arched pavilion-style villas with unique domed roofs, spread across 54 acres of lush tropical gardens. Each stunning villa has private plunge pools, rainfall showers, 'cool bed' air-con systems and magnificent ocean views.
A falling water bar overlooks a large 25-metre infinity pool which itself affords views out across the sparkling warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Dining takes place either on the alfresco terrace or even along the pristine white beach, which runs the length of the property. Kilindi's uShawari spa offers authentic pampering: skilled East African therapists use traditional techniques incorporating local herbs, oils and honey.
Activities include a wide selection of adventure and relaxation activities such as snorkeling the lively reefs, sailing cruises in traditional wooden dhows, deep-sea fishing, tours of spice plantations and Stone Town tours. Venture into the lush Jozani Forest for a hike among ruins to see the red colobus monkeys that are native to the island.
