We love Fundu Lagoon and think it is one of the best scuba spots off the African Coast! A very romantic tented resort, its stylish with patios overlooking the beautiful water. The Dhow sunset cruise and evenings at the jetty bar will forever be remembered!
While lovely, the rooms are still made with canvas walls - so not the luxury some may envision. Their suites with plunge pools are expensive but fabulous.
Fundu Lagoon is a remote and peaceful resort, only accessible by boat. Set on a secluded beach in the southwest of Pemba Island, the hotel is privately owned and run with a love for the natural environment that surrounds it. Wooden walkways and sandy paths lead to eighteen Makuti thatched room and suites. The atmosphere is tranquil and relaxed.
The rooms are raised on wooden platforms, all offering stunning ocean views. Each has its own balcony and en-suite facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. A fun atmosphere is created by a wonderful staff of locals who know and love the island.
The resort’s main areas are open sided with thatched roofing. There are three bars, and excellent restaurant and a beauty of an infinity pool. The on-premise PADI dive center provides aquatic adventures to explore the stunning underwater world teeming with gem-colored reefs and schools of tropical fish. While Pemba is known for its spectacular diving, you can also choose from optional activities such as a sunset cruise in a traditional wooden dhow, day sails to various locations, village visits and fishing excursions.
