Mango Opinion
A luxurious camp located on the Zambezi River within Lower Zambezi NP. The rooms are quite nice and the private suites some of the best accommodations anywhere. While tiger fishing here is fabulous, adrenalin-filled canoe rides on the river among the hippos, walking safaris and night game drives are also highlights.
Chongwe River Camp is situated on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers, directly opposite Mana Pools in Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia. The park is a 4,000 square kilometer pristine sanctuary, teeming with wildlife, and said to be one of the continent's most picturesque wilderness areas. With rolling hills, large groves of trees, peaceful rivers and beautiful sunsets.
The camp is a family-owned and run business dedicated to hospitality that can only be found in a home. The chalets are spacious, well-appointed Mulati tents under cooling thatch roofs, with a open air en-suite bathroom. Each tent accommodates two people, in twin or double beds. Dining al fresco under the endless expanses of a starry African night, with the sights and sounds of the bush as a backdrop, is truly an unforgettable experience that will enthrall the senses and delight your adventurous side. One does not have to even leave the camp to see and hear a wide variety of wildlife. Relaxing in the sitting out area overlooking the river, one can see a constant procession of game coming down to drink as well as over 250 species of birds. If you choose to venture from camp, there is so much to do at Chongwe. Activities to explore the area and all it can offer include game drives with expert guides, guided nature walks, canoeing or motor boating. Fishing is also a popular option.
