Mango Opinion
Mango and our clients love the Peech. In Melrose Arch within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Nice breakfast, pool and bar and reception area. Contemporary art and has feel of an up and coming Johannesburg hotel. The newest Luxury Rooms are gorgeous and we can't wait try Basalt for some tasty food. Highly recommended!
The Peech was originally a private residence, built for a member of the Dambusters who settled in South Africa in the 1950's. When discovered by James Peech, the property had been in one family's hands for over 40 years. It is now a beautiful boutique hotel that guests love due to its perfect blend of fresh modern design and comfortable, charming appeal.
The Peech has 32 rooms and suites. The Luxury Rooms are our newest rooms and are spread throughout the hotel’s lush gardens. They feature oak floors, huge walk-in raindance showers, and large patios. The Garden Rooms overlook our lush landscaped gardens. Each annex has four rooms which have been designed with separate work and relaxation areas and a private patio or balcony. House rooms are originally bedrooms in the old residence of the property these rooms have recently been renovated.
The Peech features two restaurants on the property. One is reserved for hotel guests only and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. The second, Basalt, is open to the public for dinners Tuesday to Saturday. Bookings are essential at Basalt. Freddie Dias, former Head Chef at The Pot Luck Club in Cape Town, heads up both restaurants assisted by seasoned Maître D, Lyle Scott.
