This is a gorgeous Sheraton located in downtown Addis Ababa. This is easily the nicest choice of accommodation in the country.
The hotel grounds butt right up to one of the poorer areas of the city. Literally a giant cement wall separates shanty housing and this luxury hotel. You almost feel bad staying here, but compared to all of the other accommodation in Ethiopia, it is a treat.
Located in the heart of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, and safely nestled between the National Palace and the Prime Minister’s residence, the Sheraton Addis sits on a hilltop overlooking the city with plunging views and acres of space. It is easily located just 20 minutes from Bole International Airport.
Addis Ababa is between 7,550 - 8,200 feet and is the highest capital in the world. Highlights of the city include the National Archaeological Museum where visitors can see exhibits ranging from the 3.5 million-year-old bones of Lucy from the Axumite and Gondarene periods, through to the period of the monarchs Tewodros and Menelik II.
The Sheraton Addis Ababa boasts 294 deluxe guest rooms including 33 suites, 20 classic suites, 9 junior suites and 4 executive suites. There is a wide selection of boutiques, a small spa and heated pool (with an underwater music system). Each guest room has air conditioning, hair dryer and a TV with DVD player. The hotel also offers an extensive array of dining specialties including distinct restaurants serving International, Italian and French cuisine.
