Mango Opinion
Desert Homestead is a great little property and in our opinion possibly the best affordable option in the area. Horseback riding is an option either morning or evening. TGuests can take a guided excursion or self-drive to iconic dunes of Sossusvlei.
The Desert Homestead lies in a wide grassy valley that is sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains with a view reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west.
In this exquisite position, Desert Homestead offers simple but stylish accommodation in thatched chalets which were designed with the fragile beauty of this remarkable environment in mind. The Desert Homestead will ensure you an unrivaled respite from the desert extremes. Tranquil surroundings, alfresco dining, delectably fresh farm cuisine, refreshing dips in the pool, stunning sunsets and sunrises are the basic pleasures at the lodge.
You will experience a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Desert Homestead. The living areas of the main lodge are all open plan, encouraging guests to move around freely. The most prominent feature is the well sheltered verandah where you can have a leisurely breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Guests can visit Sossusvlei and the iconic dunes either under their own steam or with a guide for an extra fee. Other optional and excellent activities in the area include quad biking and ballooning. The lodge also specializes in horse riding with morning or evening short rides and overnight bivouacs being offered.
