Ngaga is a special place where you launch to hike with the habituated families of lowland gorillas. This is a comfy place to relax and rest after a long day of hiking. Beautiful forest, incredible people.
Ngaga Camp rests in a glade in the heart of pristine primary rainforest with each raised room offering views into the surrounding canopy. The dining room, lounge and bar area are all on raised decks at the crest of the glade looking into and above the primary rainforest. They are constructed from natural, traditionally used materials including locally woven raffia palm roofing panels. A star deck and fire pit are placed on a dropped deck below the main area for after dinner relaxation while a separate deck is located at a natural cooling off spot on the Ngaga Stream below Camp.
The guest rooms are raised 3- 4m above the ground with a wraparound walkway allowing full appreciation of the forest canopy.
The camp is situated in Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the remote north of the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) - in the heart of the Congo Basin, the world's second largest expanse of tropical rainforest. Aside from a host of forest biodiversity, it holds Africa's densest population of western lowland gorillas and significant populations of forest elephant.
Activities range from gorilla tracking (habituated groups), pirogue rides along lush river systems, game drives in the savannah, night drives, walks along lush forest streams and salines, and of course time spent at the productive forest base.
