The Rongai Route is the only Kilimanjaro Climbing Route approaching from the northern side of the mountain, just near the Kenyan border. This Kilimanjaro Route sees very less traffic due to its remote location and offers fantastic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Kenyan plains. Rongai lies in the rain shadow of the mountain, meaning your hike is less likely to be affected by adverse weather. From early in the trek Kibo, the summit cone, looms dramatically overhead. Physically the route is considered easier than some trails, until you reach the high camp where there is a marked increase in difficulty as you climb steeply to the crater rim. Scramble over Jamaica Rocks and pop out on the rim at Gilman’s Point. Descent is via the Marangu Route.
All treks will be at an easy pace, with plenty of support from the expert private staff that are familiar with the terrain and challenging conditions associated with hiking at elevation. This route includes all accommodation, all meals, filtered water, special French press coffee and tea while trekking, services of trip leader, climbing guides and mountain crew, all Kilimanjaro National Park entrance and camping fees, all camping equipment (excluding sleeping bag & sleeping pad - available to rent), private biodegradable toilet at all camps, Gamow bag (portable hyperbaric chamber) and supplemental oxygen, transfers to & from your accommodation in Arusha. Additional service like a shower tent for hot showers on the Mountain and additional porters are available at an extra cost.
