This lodge is great value for the area. While you do have an earlier start to your day to get to the crater it is worth it with the costs savings.
Kitela Lodge rises up on the hillside of a valley with beautiful views of a coffee plantation and a waterfall within the incredible highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
It consists of 20 spacious suites in cottages built in the style of an old colonial farm offering guests a relaxing, quiet atmosphere surrounded by beautiful gardens. The rooms are simple but feature all comforts, each having a private furnished terrace with a view, ample seating areas and large bed. The main building, consists of a lounge, a restaurant and a large terrace from where there are spectacular views of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Relax by the pool or stimulate your senses and enjoy the ultimate in indulgence at the Spa, which offers a selection of treatments for the sheer bliss of relaxing the body, mind and soul in a perfect African setting.
Immerse yourself in the area by trekking the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, exploring the farm, visiting Masai villages, coffee farms and local brick makers, or refreshing the body and spirit in the spa. With a picnic lunch depart in the morning for the Ngorongoro Crater to observe the incredible fauna which gathers on the vast meadows on the crater floor. The crater floor consists of a number of ecological environments that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lake Makat, a central soda lake filled by the Munge river. All these various habitats attract various wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb.
