Fregate Island Resort

Fregate Island, Seychelles

Platinum price level

Mango Opinion

Fregate is one of the most luxurious private island options in the Seychelles. The gigantic villas are built into the granite rocks that make up the island. They are more classically built in style than newer more modern properties but still fantastic. Fregate is a delight for your senses; the hundreds of giant tortoises wandering around, the rare birds, the unbelievable gardens, the homemade ice cream, the fresh baked cookies in your island buggie, the private beaches. Yum yum if you can throw down for it.

Set in the brilliant turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, Fregate is an island of outstanding natural beauty; giant granite boulders rise from the powdery white sand of seven beaches, protected by granite barriers. This is truly paradise with only 17 huge villas and an inclusive style that provides even the most discerning traveler with every luxury they could want. The villas are built of native mahogany and blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings. The tropical feel of the buildings is deliberately casual. Each villa has a large terrace with a day bed and Jacuzzi as an extension of the living area. The light and spacious interior houses colonial-style furniture and state-of-the-art technology. In the evening, the Plantation House turns into a romantic restaurant serving traditional Creole dishes and island specialties. Guests can also dine in the privacy of their own villa or at the Beach Bar at Anse Bambous.

Fregate Island offers a host of activities on, in and under the water. There are two freshwater pools and seven beaches - one of which, Anse Victorin, is renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Discover another world while snorkeling, kayaking, game fishing or take a boat trip to explore a remote island. For those who prefer to stay ashore, there is a fully equipped gym and an extensive library. Guests can also climb Mount Signal, with a summit of 125 meters, or enjoy a birds eye view of the Seychelles aboard a helicopter or a small aircraft.
